The guidelines "Out of court debt restructuring in Latvia" is a document which is the result of many meetings, as well as with close cooperation with various interested social partner groups.

The Ministry of Justice and state agency Insolvency Administration in partnership with the World Bank Group have organized the Corporate Debt Restructuring Workshop that took place on December 2, 2009 in Riga.

In the same time social reality in the European Union shows us that there are an increasing number of couples that live together without being married.

Since February 1, 1995 130 442 naturalization applications have been received from the applicants of the citizenship of Latvia.

Jan de Koeijer, an expert in the forensic investigation of documents in the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI), visited the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) from November 5 - 7, 2009 as part of the Norwegian Financial Instrument co-financed project “Strengthening the Judiciary in Latvia by Improving Capacity of the State Forensic Science Bureau of Latvia in Order to Comply with Best Practice and International Quality Standards”.

On October 22nd and 23rd Finnish forensic science expert Niina Viitala visited the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) as part of the exchange activities of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism funded project “Strengthening the Judiciary in Latvia by Improving Capacity of the State Forensic Science Bureau of Latvia in Order to Comply with Best Practice and International Quality Standards”.

On October 13 and 14, 2009 the State Forensic Science Bureau (SFSB) held a two-day qualification course for Baltic and Northern European forensic experts on obtaining digital fingerprints and on image quality improvement using Foster&Freeman’s DCS 4 system.
