The highest management of the Ministry of Justice visits the celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary into Heaven 15.08.2018
On Wednesday, 15th August, Dzintars Rasnačs, the Minister of Justice, Raivs Kronbergs, the State Secretary, and Olga Zeile, the Director of the Department for Sectoral Policy, visited in Aglona the celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary into Heaven.
This year the celebration in Aglona takes from 11th to 15th August and concludes on 15th August at 7:00 p.m. with a sacred evening mass at the Altar of the Virgin Mary.
The Ministry of Justice is well familiar with and preserves relationships between the State and religious organizations and is responsible for implementation of the national policy in the field of religious affairs, as well as secures development, coordination and implementation of the State policy on religious matters across Latvia.

The celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary into Heaven is the most important Catholic celebrations of the year, gathering in Aglona – a sacred place in Latvia with an international significance – several thousands of Catholic believers and people from other churches both from Latvian and other countries. The celebration of the Assumption of Virgin Mary into Heaven is a national-level event and the government has allocated funding for the event ever since 2006.
