Aim of the project

The project is aimed to remove the obstacles of genuine EU civil justice area by analysing implementation and adaption of EU legislation in civil justice area in national legislation and promoting the relevance and application of the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereinafter – CJEU) in national judgements and legislation. Additionally the goal is to improve the contacts, exchange of information and best practices between judicial and administrative authorities focusing on practical training of application of case law of the CJEU in civil justice area.

Workstreams

1. Study visits to exchange information, knowledge and best practices regarding implementation and adaption of EU legislative instruments and control over mentioned procedures in the area of civil justice in particular EU Member States;

2. Research on influence and application of the CJEU judgements in civil justice area in national judgements and work of national judicial authorities, as well as national administrative authorities;

3. A three-day closing conference including presentations, workshops and a plenary session;

4. Presentation of the Project’s results at the University of Latvia.

Expected results

1. 5 study visits to EU Member States (Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Hungary and the United Kingdom);

2. Recommendation and Guidelines “Effective adoption, transposition, implementation and application of the European Union legislation in the area of civil justice” (in Latvian, English, Hungarian);

3. Research “The Court of Justice of the European Union and the impact of its case law in the area of civil justice to national judicial and administrative authorities” (in Latvian, English, Hungarian);

4. A three-day closing conference for 120 participants.
