Latvijas Kara muzejs

On Monday, 31 August, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns participated in the opening of the collection of documents “Crimes of the USSR occupation army in Latvia. 1940 - 1991”, prepared by the historian Jānis Riekstiņš at the Latvian War Museum.

In his speech Jānis Bordāns appreciated the initiative and contribution the Union for Research of the Occupation of Latvia and its head Ruta Pazdere for exposure of crimes of the Soviet occupation regime and military persons.

J.Bordāns: “I would like to congratulate everyone on the day of victory of Latvia! Right on this day the last soldier of the Soviet occupation army had left the territory of Latvia. I stand for the idea that the Latvian security services should be well financed and mentally prepared. We have to be alert also today. If we will be able to honestly look into the history, disclose and prove with documents the crimes of the Soviet totalitarian regime, then we will honest towards the future of the nation.”
