Latvia in cooperation with the US will improve capability of Latvian law enforcement institutions in solving crimes.
Today a cooperation agreement was signed between Latvia an the US.
Underscoring the US contribution, Latvian Justice Minister Janis Bordans said that Latvia has all preconditions to make sure that the US support would provide the best possible result.
He reminded that in 2021, the Economic Affairs Court will be put into operation in 2021. Also, Latvia has seriously strengthened and expanded the composition and functions of the Crime Prevention Council.
US Ambassador to Latvia John Carwile underscored that fight against money laundering, corruption and international crime is important for both countries because these crimes pose threat to our economies, stability and overall security.
The fight against corruption and financial crimes, strengthening the justice system, will help to promote trade between both countries and increase investments, the ambassador said.
