[1] a person has the possibility to request a repeated birth, marriage or death certificate or a statement (repeated documents) from a foreign state with which Latvia has entered into a legal aid agreement by submitting a request to any section of the local government's family lists. [2] The Department of Justice Ministry's Department of Jimats has re-drafted documents and civil status acts within the scope of legal aid requests. the file for the correction and supplement of the entry of the Register shall be referred to the State by which Latvia has entered into a legal aid agreement with the mediation of the Ministries of Justice of the Contracting States, for the issuance of a repeated document to the applicant or for the transmission of a correction and supplement to the competent foreign authority for the adoption of a decision regarding the rectification or addition of the entry of the civil status deed.
[3] if it is not necessary to certify the repeated document with Apostille, the Department of Justice Department of Drones shall, on the request of a person located in foreign states, send the repeated document prepared in a registered mail item to the address indicated in the application. If the requested document is to be certified by Apostille, it must be indicated when submitting the application, the document will be indicated in one country and in what way it wishes to receive the document - at the address of the place of residence or at the diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Latvia in a foreign state. After preparing the document, the Ministry of Justice's Department of Sworn Notaries will forward the prepared document to the Council of Latvian Sworn Notaries for the affixing of Apostille and for the further transmission of the document for issuance, in accordance with the type of receipt of the document specified in the submission of the person.

Process description

  1. Request of documents certifying the registration of repeated civil status states from a foreign stat
    If the entry of the register certifying the civil status of a person (regarding registration of the fact of birth, marriage or death) has been drawn up in the country with which Latvia has entered into a bilateral agreement on legal aid (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan), the person must complete the questionnaire in a document certifying the registration of civil status statements. for foreign claims in triplicate in English, Russian or national languages. The submission shall be accompanied by documents certifying the identity and kinship of the person, if such documents are necessary. The application must be submitted to any local government family list department

  2. Transmission of documents, corrections and supplements attesting the registration of civil status re
    [1] upon receipt of a request for legal assistance regarding the preparation of a repeated document from the State with which a legal aid contract has been entered into for Latvia, the Ministry of Justice shall draw up the requested repeated document or forward for execution to the competent local government family department.
    [2] Within the scope of the request for legal aid, the Department of Justice of the Ministry of Justice shall send the case of a correction and supplement to the State with which Latvia has entered into a legal aid contract through the Ministries of Justice of the Contracting States, for the transmission of a correction and supplement to the competent foreign authority for the adoption of a decision regarding the rectification or addition of the entry of the civil status deed.

  3. Receipt of a document certifying registration of civil status acts prepared in a foreign state
    When the Ministry of Justice receives a document prepared in a foreign state regarding the registration of a civil status deed, it shall be sent to the local government family list department for issuance to a person, in accordance with the address of the place of residence indicated in the application questionnaire.
